Heart of Australia - 'Heart Bus' | Donation from Cotton-Vineyard Tours
Dr Rolf Gomes (centre) founder of Heart Bus Australia receiving a $2,000 donation from local cotton growers Ian Todd & Sno Harm. The cheque represents proceeds from last year’s St George Cotton -Vineyard tours.
Organiser David Blacket said “The tours are a joint initiative between the St George Visitor Information Centre, local cotton growers, Riversands Vineyards and local bus driver Harry North. Each year a beneficiary is nominated by our panel of cotton growers who donate their time to host the tours.
The tours run every Thursday from May to September from 10 am to 2 pm. The purpose of the tours is to showcase our local irrigation industries in an entertaining and educational way. They involve a visit to one of our leading cotton growers to learn about cotton production, irrigation, marketing, and mechanisation.
At Riversands Vineyards visitors learn about table and wine grape production, irrigation, harvesting, and cooling. They receive a full wine tasting and 3-course lunch and the opportunity to stock up on wine supplies!
Visitors are collected from St George tourist parks and the VIC by bus and returned after the tour. Contact the Visitor Information Centre for bookings (07 4620 8877) or Riversands Vineyards (07 4625 3643). “
