Saying Goodbye to our Flame Seedless Grapes
Planted in 1989, the flame grapes have served Riversands well, providing some diversity to our table grape market. The flame seedless was always the first to be picked, every year, coming on earlier than the menindee and midnight beauty varieties. This type of grape has been characterised by a smaller, rounder berry with lots of crunch and sweetness, very easy to eat! However due to lack of consistency with berry shattering, colour and number of bunches, keeping the flame seedless was deemed unsustainable. The empty rows are set to be replaced with menindee seedless, a good performer in the St George conditions.
